Yohana (Jhoana) Colorado Gonzalez
Senior Access Consultant
Trained in architecture and driven by purpose, I bring over 16 years of experience in the construction and design industries, with a strong focus on creating built environments that are inclusive, functional, and accessible for all. Having worked across Australia and internationally, I offer a well-rounded, practical, and solutions-focused approach to every project.
As an Accredited Access Consultant (ACA), Associate Member of the AIA, and specialist in Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance and Universal Design, I provide extensive expertise across residential, education, public domain, civic, and commercial sectors. My strong knowledge of the BCA, Australian Standards, and access-related legislation enables me to guide projects from concept through to occupation, ensuring compliance while enhancing user experience. I am committed to delivering excellence in every aspect of my work, combining regulatory rigour with innovative, user-centred solutions.
Throughout my career, I have collaborated closely with architects, developers, local councils, and government agencies, delivering tailored accessibility strategies that meet both legislative obligations and the broader goals of inclusive design. I am known for my detail-oriented approach, clear communication, and commitment to practical, context-sensitive outcomes that promote usability, equity, and dignity for all users. My strong focus on client satisfaction, honesty, and delivering reliable advice has built long-lasting and trusted client relationships.
As a team leader, mentor, and technical specialist, I am passionate about driving continuous improvement, supporting emerging professionals, and advocating for greater integration of accessibility and Universal Design principles into mainstream design practices — always with a focus on delivering outcomes within budget constraints.
I am excited to continue shaping environments that reflect equity, respect, functionality, and excellence—because truly excellent design is universally accessible—and to contribute positively to the evolution of inclusive, people-centred built environments.
