Understanding Civil Engineering Design

About Event

This webinar focuses on Understanding Civil Engineering Design with Catherine Roberts from Equal Access Group and was recorded on Wednesday 20th July 2022 starting at 12 noon (AEST Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra time)

This presentation will predominantly aim to give people a basic understanding of how to read parts of civil engineering drawings related to features that may affect access, and will also provide a broad overview of how to read more complex civil engineering drawings. It will include basic training on how to read and understand site feature and level surveys, focusing on how to measure gradients from site contours and levels.

Catherine will discuss the different types of civil documentation that you may be likely to receive for a building or infrastructure project and which documentation is relevant to assessing whether access provisions are met. The focus of the presentation will be on more basic civil documentation like the documentation produced for building projects, but will also briefly cover more complex civil documentation that may be provided for infrastructure projects like road upgrades, railway projects, etc. This part of the presentation will include an overview of how to read longitudinal and cross sections based on chainages provided on alignment plans.

All times are in AEST – Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne
