Both government and industry are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of designing public and private environments that are accessible for everyone. All Australians are likely to experience an access issue at some point in their lives. When they are young using mobility devices and particularly as they get older and experience challenges with moving, seeing and hearing effectively. In addition, almost 20 per cent of our population has a disability that can affect access to public spaces and buildings, as well as impact on a person’s ability to find their way – this can include understanding signage through to travelling on public transport.
