What does the update mean?
How must it be applied to buildings, including Specialist Disability Accommodation?
How does it relate to the NCC?
The Disability (Access to Premises – Buildings) Amendment (2024 Measures No. 1) has been released. This legislative instrument amends the Disability (Access to Premises —Buildings) Standards 2010 to give effect to changes recommended by the Premises Standards Review 2021. An updated Disability (Access to Premises —Buildings) Standards 2010 has also been released.
The updated Premises Standards incorporate a range of changes and now also reference AS1428.1: 2021 instead of AS1428.1: 2009 as the primary Standard required to meet the deemed to satisfy provisions of the Access Code (within the Premises Standards).
The updates will have significant implications for professionals working to ensure access compliance in new buildings and buildings undergoing upgrade (that require building approval) is achieved. How does this change the legislative framework? What will happen, given the National Construction Code (NCC)? What impact will these changes have on the SDA Design Standard application? What does it mean for access consultants, architects and designers, occupational therapists, building surveyors, and other building professionals?
Learn what these changes are and how they must be implemented in this 1.5 hour webinar presented by Access Institute.
